snipun
1) How do I setup for credit cards to have the funds transferred to my business banking account? I see the option for "credit card" but it only asks for the email address! I have: authorize.net credit card cash on delivery ipayment check/money order NOCHEX paypal 2checkout psigate secpay How do I use any of those for easy transactions? I know the cash on deliver, check/money order, and paypal ones are self-explanatory but the other ones confuse me. It says Credit Card Test Info: CC#: 4111111111111111 Expiry: Any Enable Credit Card Module True Split Credit Card E-Mail Address [email protected] Where is it pulling the CC# from? Why does it say "test info"? 2) Also, why does the front of my site say this at the top portion: Welcome Guest! Would you like to log yourself in? Or would you prefer to create an account? This is a demonstration online-shop, any products purchased will not be delivered nor billed. Any information seen on these products are to be treated fictional. If you wish to download this sample shop, or to contribute to this project, please visit the support site. This shop is based on osCommerce 2.2-CVS.. I need to be able to change that because people obviously won't want to buy from something with that! hehe 3) How do I change the background and colors to something different? Thanks, I tried search but it brings up so many things.
snipun
OK so I figured out the whole CC deal. I have to sign up for an account with one of those services. Does anyone reccomend any of the ones listed above (its a US based company so one of those is off-limits due to GBP $ being required).
Guest
wiki.oscommerce.com/docs Authorize.net seems pretty popular on the forums. Hth, Matt
Guest
You need a merchant account too. I can't really reccomend any merchant account providers, since they all seem to suck. As far as a gateway, I've used a few, and authorize.net is my favorite. hel0
snipun
So I just need to have a seperate bank account and then apply to authorize.net for their services and everything is good to go? Thanks!
Guest
No, You need a business checking account to get money, a merchant account to process charges, and an internet gateway. The flow goes like this: 1) User orders something on your website 2) Your website sends their payment info to Authorize.net 3) Authorize.net does some checks and approves the payment 4) Authorize.net passes off the charge to your merchant account provider 5) Your merchant account provider bills your customers bank 6) Your merchant account provider transfers the money into your account You need all 3 for the traditional cc processing setup
mikes
You do not need a merchant account or a gateway to accept CC payments via your shop. 2Checkout handles that for. They process the payment and disperse funds to your account twice a month. If you have a store front or do mail order and need to actually swipe cards or enter numbers for customers then 2checkout won't work but if you are just accepting orders via your site they are perfect. Guest
Yeah, If you don't want to go through all the hassle of getting a real merchant account, something like 2checkout works. But, they are very expensive and I think a bit unreliable. If you plan on doing a lot of sales a regular merchant account will be cheaper. Here are some example numbers for 50 orders per month, totaling 5k. 2checkout 275(processing fee of 5.5%) +20(transaction fee of .40) = 295/month Regular Merchant 120(processing fee of 2.4%) +10(transaction fee of .20) +10(statement fee) +15(gateway fee) = 155/month There are also things to consider like setup fees, some of the regular ones can get expensive. Hope this helps, hel0
snipun
Ah ok I see. Yea authorize.net looks like a better solution. Thanks guys :) Much appreciated. Oh and how do I chnage the background to some girly stuff for my cusotmer who I'm making the website for? And also about the "this is just a test page" - I'd like to get that off of there or else customers wont like it!
stigc8
While we're at that guys. What are some decent merchant accounts? I see so many and it's hard to tell which is good because they usually don't list their prices. What do you guys use? Any urls or other resources would be much appreciated. snipun
authorizenet.com has merchant accounts via their resellers and also gateways. so it's sort of a one-stop need
