I've pretty much figured out that the way I want to do it is to have the customer enter his forum username and password during the checkout process and have osCommerce modify his or her shipping amount/method based on a successful authentication. This is where it gets a little squeaky though. I'm not sure if I should modify an existing payment module, copy a module and modify it, or even how to determine how osCommerce calculates shipping. Creating the code to authenticate the user isn't going to be my problem; figuring out where to put it is :) Any suggestions would be most helpful, as i'm fair-to-middling good PHP hack, but the complexity of osCommerce is more than what I'm used to.
