I just started, or better tried to start using 2Checkout.com and their site is down for the past 12 hours. Cannot reach www.2checkout.com at all, the seller site is sometimes reachable and transactions mostly do not work at all ... Server not found. I called them and they said they had increased traffic ... and it will be up again in 30min ... well, that was 90min ago.

Is this a common problem with 2Checkout? I issued a trouble ticket 12 hours ago, but no response. I have another ticket open for 24 hours ... it seems they do not respond fast. ... well, I might be spoiled by pair.com ;-)

2checkout sucks.

Time to look for a professional solution.

Yes, this is becoming a very common problem with 2checkout. We've been with them for about a year now and I'm looking for something else right now. September was our busy season and 2checkout was down more than was acceptable. But we got over it and stuck with them. Now everytime I look up, they're down. And they don't send merchants an email or anything to let you know, usually we find out from our few customers or from the message board. They have NEVER sent us an email or annoucement to tell us that they are having problems. We don't do a heck of a lot of business, less than 50 orders a month, but those few orders are very important to us. We really can't afford a regular merchant account but if anyone can suggest anything at all short of my driving to the customers house and picking up their money, I'd greatly appreciate it.

"Sucks" is an understatement.

I recently signed up with 2checkout and see that there are a lot of DoS attacks aimed at them according to their news page. Here's the last entry:

December 2, 2003:  Update - Current DDoS Attack

Though we are still under a DDoS attack, we currently have it under control. If you are still unable to complete sales, please call our Customer Support. You will need to know the IP address that is being blocked, so we can help you. Call 1-877-294-0273 or 1-614-921-2450. You can also FAX Customer Support at either 1-614-921-2551 or 1-877-921-2451. We apologize for this continued inconvenience.

I'd say they are doing the best they can given the situation.

hi guys,

i signed upto 2checkout yesterday, as they have the option of remitance being each week, as oposed to a month with worldpay.

I have a question for 2checkout people:

what does Current Release Level mean?

thanks

That means how much of your money do they actually give you. In other words, they keep some in reserver on each payment.

And if I recall corectly, they only pay every 2 weeks, not every week, unless they've changed something.

whats the point in this (as you can pick how much you want to recieve)?

wouldn't you jus want the full amount each time? or am i missing sumthing?

Posted

No, they do not allow your to receive the full amount each time.

Thye will resevrve a percentage each time, in case of chargebacks. It's usually about $50 - $100 per $1000.

And, like I said, you only receive your money every two weeks (unless thay have changed their policy)

Heh, you guys have a few things confused.

*2checkout will do a weekly release if you make over a certain amount per week. I think when I signed up this was like $1,000. Poor people like myself have to get paid every 2 weeks.

*The release level is different from the reserve. The release level is basically the threshold that you hit before you get your money. You decide what the release level is. For example, if you set the release level at $500 then your money will not be released to you until you have $500 in your account. If you make $450, then they'll just hold it to the next release cycyle. The reserve is a whole different thing. Its a percentage of your sales that 2checkout holds out of your realeased money to cover chargebacks and late refunds and such. Your reserve is held for 90 days. Whatever money is left from that reserve after 90 days comes back to you.

For those that just joined 2checkout, this isn't the first, second or third attack that we've lived thru. And frankly posting that blurb on the "news" page after your sales have been suffering for hours and hours really isn't good enough. You wish they had the situation under control, but frankly 2checkout doesn't even acknowledge that they're having a problem until they figure out how to fix it instead of when they realize that none of your customers can buy from you.

Glad that I can help explain 2checkout policy although I'm trying to find something else.
