Because my client has to check costs of shipping before these costs can be added to the order, is there anyway for her to add shipping costs before the customer pays paypal? Or can the shipping costs be added in later by the client and customer pays a second bill? Please advise on how you would manage this.

There are a couple of problems with adding the shipping later. We do it now on our current site (not oscpowered). It adds extra delay and effort to the transaction, and that can put people off. We don't give them a payment option until we've contacted them with shipping, because there is a per transaction fee with paypal, so you wind up paying that twice if the shipping and cost are paid separately. Not good, they make enough money from us ;)

Ideally you would install a shipping module or two that can correctly calculate the shipping for the customer, and streamline the transaction.

The one part we will miss, is the opportunity to upsell our customers to maximize their shipping dollars, 9 out of 10 will buy enough tiles to fill the box to the shipping level they've paid for. We're working on ways of still informing people, maybe a shipping info page on the site.

If you still want to go ahead, I would remove the payment options from the checkout, and put in a note saying you will contact the customer with a total that includes shipping and payment options.
