innerfire
Can anyone help. When I install admin_authen to protect my site I get the following error: Fatal error: Failed opening required 'DIR_WS_INCLUDESauthen.php' (include_path='.:/usr/local/nf/lib/php') in /mnt/web_h/d02/s13/b01c05b4/www/catalog/admin/includes/application_top.php on line 17 Shouldn't something like this basic protection level be built into the oscommerce software as a basic installation. It seems protecting the admin area should be of supreme importance. The only other mod asks to add info into the SQL database. That is overwhelming for me. I can hardly understand the pearl script as it is. So, I think that admin_authen might be the only option right now for me. I would love to get it to work. Guest
Do you have a 'control panel' for your website that your web host provides? It's fairly easy to password protect directories from there, and most web hosts provide these. I would guess they don't 'build in' any protection into osCommerce due to the fact it is easily done on your own, aswell as not taking the risk of a possible liability on their behalf in the even someone does 'break in'. -Dave
innerfire
got it to work. I installed .htpass and it gave me at least a little buffer. Thanks for the direction. Sure enough the host had a way.
