muckster
Hello, I'm looking for a way to take the pricing off a product and instead display "call for price." I realize this doesn't make a lot of sense since it defeats the purpose of having an online store, but my client would like to advertise the product without giving the prices away (and from what I understand, they fluctuate heavily.) If I simply put the "call for pricing" in the product description, the price is listed as $0.00, which looks unfortunate and doesn't keep people from adding the product to their shopping carts. Can anybody think of an elegant way of handling this? I searched the forums but didn't turn up anything. Thanks in advance for your help, Jurgen
jpf
If you had searched for "call for price" you should have come up with alot on the "free call for price Mod" See: http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,134 Adds a new Feature of allowing the Price to be set to $0 and displaying text, image or nothing to indicate Custom Pricing. And yes it works with MS2.
muckster
Thanks, but a search didn't turn up anything. I am trying to install this, and I uploaded the changed files as per README.TXT. But now I get the following error when I open the store: Fatal error: Call to undefined function: clean_html_comments() in /home2/webmaste/shrinkfilm-www/catalog/includes/functions/html_output.php on line 124 The readme file says something about this that makes no sense to me: Most all changes are documented here. There are a few cosmetic changes not shown. Where ever the ALT tag uses the product_name, this should use the function called clean_html_comments() What am I missing? Do I have to add clean_html_comments anywhere? Thank you for your help.
1quicksi
Search the contributions and not the message board ;) http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions knowledge base | Contributions | Search
muckster
Ah, that helps -- but not with my current problem. I see the contribution added clean_html_comments.php to /functions, but html_output.php still gives me an undefined function error looking for it. Does anybody have any experience with this? Is there any way to contact the author (Linda McGrath) directly? I have no idea how to fix this. Thanks again for your help.
Guest
There will be a suppoprt thread somewhere in the contribs forum about this contrib, I am certain. Linda is usually pretty good at supporting her contribs, although I must admit I haven't seen her around much lately. Try finding the support thread and posting your questions in there. If Linda doesn't see it, then maybe someone else who has already successfully installed the contrib will be able to help you. Or if this has come up before, the answer might even be already there if you read the thread.
muckster
Gotcha, thanks. All the support/forum/community/contribution links had me a little confused, but I think I'm figuring it out. I've already found out that Linda has an updated v4 on her own site. Much appreciated, Jurgen
