charles
On successful installation of OSCms2. does the upgrade option just upgrade the database to ms2 or does it also bring forward any coding/customization changes done to the previous version? Mark Evans
On successful installation of OSCms2. does the upgrade option just upgrade the database to ms2 or does it also bring forward any coding/customization changes done to the previous version? Only database changes are upgraded any customisation or addition of contributions will need to be done manually. The customisation will be made easier soon with the introduction of a template structure, Mark Evans osCommerce Monkey & Lead Guitarist for "Sparky + the Monkeys" (Album on sale in all good record shops) --------------------------------------- Software is like sex: It's better when it's free. charles
Thanks, OK, so, I lost my hard drive and it was months before I could replace it so now I need to pick up where I left off. I guess now the best approach would be to continue developement on the older version, which is a 2.1 daily snapshot from last February, and when the template is released, attempt the upgrade at that point. Is there any projection as to when the template will be ready? Charles We stand in ignorance only for questions not asked. charles
OK, based on what I've seen in helping some newbies, I'm starting to get the impression that there have been enough changes between v2.1 and v2.2 in path names and database structure (field names) that I should have concern over an effective migration bringing forward all of my customization changes when the migration template is finallly ready. I need some advice. When I lost my hard drive I was able to recover everything except my personally authored change log. So, not remembering which files I changed, should I start right now using a program like Compare It! to manually bring my changes forward before I proceed with too many more modifications? Or, should I trust the migration template? Charles We stand in ignorance only for questions not asked. Plug up the leaks in your knowledge base and open up a flood of understanding.
