kzar Posted November 25, 2003 Posted November 25, 2003 When I click on a categorie, it says "Let's See What We Have Here" and on the right there is a broken image. When i click to see its properties, the image source is catalog/images/ . Any ideas how i cant fix/remove it as it looks really unprofesional. thanks :) Solutions to common NETBANX problems
chfields Posted November 25, 2003 Posted November 25, 2003 You need to go into your images folder and replace all the images that have table_background_.....gif with pixel_trans.gif
kzar Posted November 26, 2003 Author Posted November 26, 2003 Are you sure? Overight all the files starting with table_background with that blank image?!? how would it help? Solutions to common NETBANX problems
berkedam Posted November 26, 2003 Posted November 26, 2003 kzar:broken image is the image available in catalog/images? can you see the image with another prog? with e.g. <http://www.irfanview.com/> = freeware, irfanview is a must-have! kzar Posted November 26, 2003 Author Posted November 26, 2003 i already told you, the image is non existant. It doesnt point to an image it just points to www.mydomain.com/catalog/images/ see for yourself HERE Solutions to common NETBANX problems
berkedam Posted November 30, 2003 Posted November 30, 2003 kzar:i already told you, the image is non existant. It doesnt point to an image it just points to www.mydomain.com/catalog/images/ You? Whom are you replying to? This is basic HTML stuff :-( A broken image always points to a non existing image in the given directory. The image which is missing there is: ../catalog/images/table_background_default.gif You can replace it with a back-up image or with a new image. chfields Posted November 30, 2003 Posted November 30, 2003 It could also be a category image. Each category, when clicked will have an image, that you define in admin when creating your categories. The table_background_whatever.gif are those cartoon icons you see on the site. My suggestion to upload the transparent gif still stands if you don't want those cartoon gif's on your site.

Clicking on *HERE* in kzar's post would have confirmed to you that it is definitively the space in which originally the table_background_default.gif appears. Look at http://www.oscommerce.com/osCommerce22ms2/....php?cPath=3_15 which is an equivalent page (product listing) and you will see that it is a category image that would appear there. Product listing pages show category images, not table_backgrounds. The problem is almost certainly that no image is defined for that category in admin. Another thing that might help is to change admin > Configuration > Images > Image Required to false. However, it is always a good idea to set a category image, even if it is only pixel_trans.gif. berkedam Posted November 30, 2003 Posted November 30, 2003 iiinetworks Posted on Nov 30 2003, 03:43 PMWould it? No :-( I stand corrected, I took the wrong page from the original osco-site (my gif's have other names) to see which one it could be, yr right it was a category_*.gif. And in case one changes the image to a 1x1px transp.gif one should also take into account that the original reserved space is not 1x1 :-) "If you're working on something new, then you are necessarily an amateur."
Guest Posted November 30, 2003 Posted November 30, 2003 [When I click on a categorie, it says "Let's See What We Have Here" and on the right there is a broken image. When i click to see its properties, the image source is catalog/images/] I'm referring to kzar's original post. From his page, there's no other broken image on the right except the category image. kzar, from admin edit your category and upload an image to it. hope that helps.
Guest Posted November 30, 2003 Posted November 30, 2003 And in case one changes the image to a 1x1px transp.gif one should also take into account that the original reserved space is not 1x1The image is resized anyway, so it doesn't matter. I.e. whatever size the image is, it will be resized by the browser to the width/height specified in admin. Cheers, Matt
berkedam Posted December 1, 2003 Posted December 1, 2003 The image is resized anyway, so it doesn't matter. I.e. whatever size the image is, it will be resized by the browser to the width/height specified in admin. Of course it MATTers if the resized invisible image takes up the space reserved for it. Even a few days ago someone was complaining about the blind spot and wondered why it was there after he had followed the advice to change the img to a 1x1 transp.gif.
