Mark-UK Posted November 25, 2003 Posted November 25, 2003 Will paypal work with my oscommerce site. Is it easy to add and install paypal to the site. Plus is it free as ive just signed up to a business accunt and there doesnt seem to be a fee. :)
Guest Posted November 25, 2003 Posted November 25, 2003 Yes - osCommerce comes with a paypal module - this can be found in admin>modules>payment. It is easy to install>click the install button>click edit to insert your Paypal details. Paypal charges transaction fees. Matti
Mark-UK Posted November 25, 2003 Author Posted November 25, 2003 So it is free then yes????? So I go into my account and click the install button for paypal yes and enter my details yes. Then what?? Can i also refund people cash etc, is paypal a good credit card ordering system, why is it free then. Thanks for the help by the way. :)
Guest Posted November 25, 2003 Posted November 25, 2003 It is not free - Paypal charge transaction fees - that is how they make money  You can use your Paypal account to pay other people, yes. You can accept credit card transactions through Paypal.
Mark-UK Posted November 25, 2003 Author Posted November 25, 2003 Cheers, i know about the fees i meant to add it which i now know is free. Could you help me with installing paypal into my account please. Ive clicked on the true button in the payment section and added an email address. Ive also opened a paypal business account today too. When i go to "buy now" i get an error message like these symbols below. :21; http://www.tackandtackle.co.uk/checkout_shipping.php Oh and do i need to add each item i have for sale to my paypal account so to speak. I will have thousands of products eventually so do i have to fill in a form on paypal for each item or is there an easier way of doing stuff so they just got to my paypal section after they have clicked on the go to checkout option on my site. Thanks

Mark-UK Posted November 25, 2003 Author Posted November 25, 2003 any ideas on how to add paypal. So far ive opned a paypal business account. Ive updated in admin the true option and added my paypal address. Now what. Do i have to fill out a form on paypal for every item on my site thats for sale.
keetz Posted November 25, 2003 Posted November 25, 2003 I just opened a paypal account and added it as a payment module. When you added it, did you click on the arrow on the paypal line, and fill in your information there? That's what I did, and then I bought something and went through the checkout up until the point where I have to confirm the purchase, (I didn't confirm because I don't want to actually purchase). It seemed to work ok, but I have to figure out if there is a way to test it.
chfields Posted November 25, 2003 Posted November 25, 2003 you can test it by opening a second account, buying something on your site using that account and then give yourself a refund, through the paypal site
djmonkey1 Posted November 26, 2003 Posted November 26, 2003 You may need to set up a PayPal cart from within your PayPal acccount, but it's not necessary to go through every product in your catalog (one will suffice). From your PayPal account, click on "Merchant tools." There will be a table of links displayed on that page, one of them should be "shopping cart." Run through the cart to configure it for one product, and once you see the html code (which you don't need), you should be all set. Try this and see if you're still having problems. If PayPal won't let you manually configure your cart from within your PayPal account, then something is wrong (ie perhaps your account is not yet confirmed/verified, etc). cheers stew Do, or do not. There is no try. Order Editor 5.0.6 "Ultra Violet" is now available! For support or to post comments, suggestions, etc, please visit the Order Editor support thread.
Guest Posted November 26, 2003 Posted November 26, 2003 WARNING ABOUT PAYPAL! http://www.paypalsucks.com/forums/showthre...529&old_block=0 I've had many problems with paypal, people can take over others accounts purchase an item from you and when the owner of the account finds out they then make a refund back to themselves and paypal will tell you to rack off! You are out of product and money... If this happens to you alot then they may freeze your account and take your money...
