snipun
How do I make my site a secure SSL connection? What's the easiest way to link the payment options into an existing bank account? I have a website but I want to redirect the name of my website to my osCommerce cart. For instance if my website was www.website.com and the actual address for my oscommerce site was www.website.com/oscommerce; id like it for people to type in www.website.com and be redirected automatically to www.website.com/oscommerce. Thanks!
djmonkey1
You should just install oscommerce into the root folder of your site. I initially installed it into a seperate directory but pretty quickly changed my mind, and since I've installed it in the root folder it's very cool. To get a security certificate you should check with your hosting provider. Many offer shared certificates with their web hosting plans, but the best way to go is to get your own. They run about $150/year, depending on who you get it from. For your payment gateway/merchant account question, I have the same question. Apparently their is no "best." Do, or do not. There is no try. Order Editor 5.0.6 "Ultra Violet" is now available! For support or to post comments, suggestions, etc, please visit the Order Editor support thread. snipun
Rad thanks. How come when I go to my cart it still says "This is a demonstration online-shop, any products purchased will not be delivered nor billed. Any information seen on these products are to be treated fictional. If you wish to download this sample shop, or to contribute to this project, please visit the support site. This shop is based on osCommerce 2.2-CVS."??? I installed the script from my hosts control panel but it still doesnt have anything set. The thing I didn't really understand from your answer was how I set up a bank account to receive money from the orders that are placed. snipun
Oh and I see people posting up code and typing stuff like: catalog/admin/index.php But when I go to my servers file manager and into the directory where osCommerce is installed I don't see half of those folders *shrug*
Jeremy at oddly enough
What they mean is the index.php file, in the admin folder, in the catalog folder. Once you install to the root directory, you wn't have a catalog folder anymore, because your site root folder takes the place of catalog. Probably what you're looking for for payment will be Paypal at least to start. Go to their site and start poking around, and set up an account. You link it to your bank account and can recieve money that way. Some people won't want to use it, or any electronic payment, so you might consider accepting money orders and cheques.
