First - BACKUP Second - Setup a "test" server (ie 'localhost') Install both the OLD and new versions on the test server (with both the old data and a new fresh data) Backup! Test Backup! Use the included script to "compare" the 2 DB (MySQLDiff - a perl script) - in the "extra" directory.... Run that on your "NEW" fresh data. Backup! Test Backup! Use a file compare tool like Beyond Compare to "move" over your changes (I hope you clearly marked them). Backup! Test Backup! Make more changes.... Test Backup! ......... When ALL working do a final DB copy - MySQLdiff again on the LIVE DB then upload the whole shebang up to and over the old site. In other words - not without a little bit of work....
