serial no and account history for serial number

i need to assign a serial number to some of the products that i sell.any customer should be able to buy other items for the same serial number.

i need to be able to search for all the orders involving this serial number.

view or print them.

this is b2b i can have the customer enter the serial number as attribute or as extra fields in checkout process. i can do this part by just copy and pasting

problem is searching for the orders involving this attribute.

this is to keep track of the services done on a particular hardware with that serial number regardless of who owned it at the time.
