finch8243 Posted November 21, 2003 Posted November 21, 2003 Any and all: I'm adding some contributions to my site and want some recommendations, especially where several contributions exist that do similar things: - STS or BTS for templates? - which Header/Meta/Tags controller do people prefer? There seem to be several. - Which "add more images per product" contribution? Mo? Ultra? - Which reporting mods? Sales, conversions, site tracking, etc.? Thanks for any recs. Also, I know some "loaded" installs exist out there -- are they worth it? Quote Finch
Jud Posted November 21, 2003 Posted November 21, 2003 I can't comment on any of the other contributions but I Prefer STS over BTS. It is really easy to make a great looking site that uses oscommerce with STS. Quote
finch8243 Posted November 22, 2003 Author Posted November 22, 2003 Thanks -- I would love to see a feature on the Contributions section of this site -- something like "Most Popular Contributions" or "Highest Rated" or something. I think that would help users immensely going forward. I do use the Macromedia Extensions a lot in my work, and they have those functions. Very useful. Just a thought. I'd try to add it myself if I knew how! F Quote Finch
defender39 Posted November 22, 2003 Posted November 22, 2003 That would be nice to rate the contributions. How about it? Quote
Jud Posted November 22, 2003 Posted November 22, 2003 There is a thread about the best contributions. Just search the forums and you should find it. Quote
defender39 Posted November 22, 2003 Posted November 22, 2003 I know what the thread is about...but if we create a rating system then his question gets answered. Best contribs: wishlist polls forums affiliate print catalog product display columns coupons faqdesk live support newsdesk reviews in products unsold carts giftwrap paypal IPN support tickets/help desk STS easy populate site map coolmenu these are the working contribs I have installed on my MS1 site and I might have missed one or two Quote
finch8243 Posted November 22, 2003 Author Posted November 22, 2003 Nice! thanks for the list, defender. This is what I was looking for -- a point of departure for my own site. As far as the ratings system, I do urge you to check out the Macromedia extensions site at: http://www.macromedia.com/cfusion/exchange...hange&loc=en_us You can sort by category (in OSC case it would be "Features", "Images", etc.), but also filter by Picks, Top Downloads, or Highest Rated. I feel that as a newbie to OSC, I would really make use of that. Would beat digging through forums. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Quote Finch
