Auto Conversion of Retail Price

 I see the nifty update of the currency factor in the Localization screen, but what I would LIKE to be able to do is enter a net price with an optional 3 character currency code. The system would know that without the 3 character code that the price is in the selected default currency (e.g. USD), but if a valid 3 character code is entered (e.g. "EUR" for Euros) then the system would automatically multiply the currency entered by the factor for that currency and display the price in the default currency. (i.e. Enter Euros and see Dollars).

To make this even better, I would LIKE to turn on an option switch that causes the osCommerce system to go out daily (once daily is adequate) and automatically update all currency factors. I would ALSO LIKE to enter the vendor's cost to me in a similar manner and have it print on my order reports.

The result would be that I could purchase stock from countries all over the world, enter their stable suggested retail price in their currency, and my buyer would see all my retail prices in my default currency. I would not need to concern myself with the day-to-day fluctuations in currency.

Surely there is one sharp PHP programmer out there who could work with me to implement these suggested changes. The contribution would probably be implemented by every osc user who buys internationally. I suspect that much of the logic now exists in the currency.php program. Please. Please. Please. Please. Please. Please. Please. Please. Please. Please. Please. Please. Please. Please. Please. Please. (Ps - I prefer someone who has worked on the AllProducts contribution. Thanks.)

Since this topic was first posted, part of the problem has been resolved by using a PayPal account which will accept payments in US Dollars, Canadian Dollars, Euros, UK Pounds Sterling & Japanese Yen. Only these currencies are now selected.

The most urgent problem remaining for shops that buy internationally from manufacturers, suppliers, vendors, etc is that they will quote us a firm price in their currency, but we have to enter the price in as our default currency. (Example: Receive a quoted price in Euros & have to enter it in US Dollars. Within hours or days the currency conversion factor has changed on the Forex.)

A solution may be possible to daily updating of these five currency factors, by running a "scheduled task" (All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Scheduled Tasks). So far I have not come up with the correct URL & parameters to pass to it, so if anyone can get this to work I would appreciate hearing from you.
