new products display on index...how to???

I want to change it so the index page displays new products for the month by the latest date and not the latest entry into OSC.

 

So that if I change the date on a product I just added then it wont display on the home page as a new product. I searched all over but we all know the search engine stinks.

 

Any help would be great.

 

BTW-I am MS1
