.htaccess and .cvsignore

You can delete all the CVS directories. They are not needed for store operation. They are for development use. CVS is a version tracking and merging system. It makes it easier for multiple people to alter the same section of code without writing over each other's changes.

 

You can get by without the .htaccess files, but it would be better if your host could implement them with <DIRECTORY > sections in httpd.conf. Note: to do this, they would need to know from where the file comes in the directory structure. The .htaccess files control how the webserver allows access to files and directory specific configuration. They exist to allow web site owners to do this without making changes to system files like httpd.conf.
