Converting to SSL

I think I have a simple question. I have a website that works great, but I built it prior to getting my SSL certificate.

My host provided SSL certificate protects my /secure directory.

How do I reconfigure OSC to protect data during checkout using SSL?

a) Do I have to move ALL of the OSC stuff into /secure and then change some configuration file?

B) Is there an easier way by just defining the path to the https server in the configuration file somewhere?

I've actually tried both and had no luck. I'm trying to avoid option c), reinstalling from scratch into the /secure directory.

Any words of wisdom would be much appreciated.

Thanks

You need to change includes/configure.php in both the catalog and admin areas. Set ENABLE_SSL to true and make sure that the HTTPS vars are correct.

Your host can change their setup to use your regular directory rather than the secure directory. This would be preferable to your other options.

Copy the files (rather than move them) and change the includes/configure.php files there as well. You can continue to keep your product pages, etc. on the regular server. If need be, you can modify tep_image to use an https URL on the regular server.

There might be a slightly better way, but you would probably be better off discussing it with your host, as they have a better understanding of their situation. It is preferred to have http and https point to the same directory if possible (maybe you're right and you should move the files, then have them point http to your secure directory--it's really hard to guess without a better understanding of how things are set up.
