Question about google

jrwrestling

Recommended Posts

I submitted a base URL to the google search. I was #1 for several key terms, "college wrestling apparel" and "wrestling singlets" to name a couple. That was on Oct. 22, when i page was indexed. However, early on the 24th, google reverted back to an old page on the same URL. (it simply redirected to my catalog.)

Here are the links to show you what I mean:

The cached page they draw meta tags from now:

Page I don't want on search

The page that should be there, and was for about 36 hours:

http://www.jrwrestling.com/

Any clue why?

Could it be the use of all the search terms in white font at the bottom?

Let me know.

Another possibility is that the server that held your new results crashed, so it went back to the previous results. This happens sometimes and would get fixed the next time they spider you. That would explain the incorrect cached page.

AFAIK, if they decide that your site is engaging in hanky panky with fake content, they just ban it altogether. They wouldn't point to a previous version of the site.

Hth,

Matt

So what will happen to the spidering then? I read it was common in the first month that google would refer back to a previous page.

Will google go sooner or later update the page with the correct page?

I would highly recommend removing the hidden text. Most search engines [google included] consider text the same color as the background a form of spam. And spamming any index will mostly likely get you booted or even banned for your trouble.

You are much better off writing few well written paragraphes that incorporate or keywords/phrase into them than trying to trick the SE's.
