Some customers will refuse to register on your site without SSL, but no, you do not *have* to do so. It is merely highly recommended. Any of the payment methods that take payment info on their own site will work: paypal, worldpay, etc. Also can use COD, check/money order, etc.

Thanks Matt -

I'm going to look at worldpay right now. I don't like the idea of someone having to create a paypal account in order to buy something (getting ready to create a site for someone that caters to an older market)

I'm not against getting a security certificate. Would it be a problem to get something functional before purchasing the security cert ??

Is it more difficult to implement it?

Totally diff question - But would, for instance, ibill work with oscommerce ?

thanx again

No, you can add the certificate at any point of the process. Just have to change includes/configure.php when you do. You have to make the changes manually, but it's not much more difficult than doing it in the beginning.

I'm not aware of a payment module for iBill. One could be written, but it would seem simpler to choose someone else that has a module already.

Hth,

Matt
