Configuring admin to security site

blurrblurr

Recommended Posts

This is a really good question. I'm having the same issue. I have a secured site, but when I tried to configure the admin for ssl, soon as you click any item in the admin it snaps back to http. Also my customer is seeing that message "You are not protected by SSL, which makes them very confused and concerned. SSL is working correctly during checkout process, but they would like the admin there too and I just can't seem to get it to work.

Please let me know how I can change the admin configuration or what I've done incorrectly.

Thanks in advance

Under the admin/include directory, there is a file called configure.php. Change line:

define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://yourserver.com'); // eg, http://localhost - should not be empty for productive servers

to:

define('HTTP_SERVER', 'https://yourserver.com.com'); // eg, http://localhost - should not be empty for productive servers

This seems to work so far for me. I'll tell you if I run into any problems with this.

i read in the installation manual about editting .htaccess file to secure..

If u host oscommerce with a company, they probably have easy tool for you to do so...

But i m hosting in on my own pc...can some one teach me how to edit the file so it can be password protected?

Also, any way to set admin folder not browsable from the web? I m running apache, winxp. Thanks!!

You will need to also delete the admin folder from the non ssl side of your server.

Only do this if you have a ssl folder and a non ssl folder.
