Potential Security Risk - Config File Permissions

Recommended Posts

I have just had my host do a fresh install of MS2 to replace my CVS setup but, I get this message at the top of the page(s) I didn't have this problem with CVS - any help on setting the right permissions on the config. file would be appreciated! I really do not want people to have access to my Admin panel!

Warning: I am able to write to the configuration file: /home/handtied/public_html/shop/includes/configure.php. This is a potential security risk - please set the right user permissions on this file.

where can you comment out this check so this error message with be supressed?

Not really a good idea. The reason it is there is to keep you from running your site with the security problem. If you remove the write permissions the message should go away. Removing the error message while not changing the permissions means someone could write to your file and screw up your store.

The Knowledge Base is a wonderful thing.

Do you have a problem? Have you checked out Common Problems?

There are many very useful osC Contributions

Are you having trouble with a installed contribution? Have you checked out the support thread found Here
