I have been following the instructions quite carefully but I have reached the point where the instructions do not make sense. If you will:

Your admin section should be password protected. The easiest way to do this is to use .htpasswd and .htaccess to secure the directory. If you are not sure how to do this, please follow the procedure outlined below:

Add this code to your .htaccess file

AuthType Basic

AuthName "Locked Area"

AuthUserFile /home/youraccount/.htpasswds/admin/passwd

require valid-user

1 OK, so which .htaccess file in the main catalog dir or a new file creation in admin dir??

2 Where to add the code

Add to your DirectoryIndex statement and include the following : default.php index.php This can be done in the Apache httpd.conf file if you have root access, or can be done in an .htaccess file in your /catalog dir.

If I create another .htaccess file in the catalog dir it will overwrite the existing one.

So what's to do here??

I am using IIS 5 and only for testing purposes and for a demonstration to a client. So I might not need to bother now, but I want to know because at some point everything will be uploaded to a web server.
