Product list order

Well I've found a topic about this in the archive topics, they've mentioned that you should edit the default.php file so you can sort your products by their product model, so model nr 001-bmwZ3 will be nr one on the list, 002 will follow etc.

This seems like a decent methode to me, but after I couldn't find a default.php file, and I saw the date (september 2002) of that topic, I realized that the version probably has been updated, and that the default.php file has been removed/renamed/whatever.

So what file do I need to edit when I want to list the products by their model instead of their name?

Thnx, Morrey

well I suppose it is just the index.php file, anyway, could someone tell me what I need to change to get what I want :P

this is the code I found in the archives;

Here is how I solved this problem for our site:

In default.php, change line 194

from

$listing_sql .= " order by pd.products_name";

to

$listing_sql .= " order by p.products_model";
