Installation config permissions

Recommended Posts

I have successfully installed OSCommerce a couple of times now and am have hit an error I have never seen before.

osCommerce Configuration

The following error has occurred:

The configuration files do not exist, or permission levels are not set.

Please perform the following actions:

cd /home/customxb/public_html/catalog/includes/

touch configure.php

chmod 706 configure.php

cd /home/customxb/public_html/catalog/admin/includes/

touch configure.php

chmod 706 configure.php

If chmod 706 does not work, please try chmod 777.

If you are running this installation procedure under a Microsoft Windows environment, try renaming the existing configuration file so a new file can be created.

I have tried everything it has suggested and more, anyone know of something else?

Thank you!

Before strating installation you have to chmod both your catalog and admin/includes/configure.php to 777 and when your installation is done chmod back to 644

Hey The_Bear...

(Sorry to Hijack this thread!) But could you look at my post http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/index.php?sho...&hl=permissions

I can NOT get osCommerce to stop throwing this "you can write to this file" error. I have several installs, (including one today), but this is a friends site, and don't know if it could be "host" related somehow.

Thanks in advance!
