Guest Posted September 10, 2003 Posted September 10, 2003 Got this email and then noticed my USPS shipping calculations isnt working: Over the Labor Day weekend the U.S. Postal Service changed the Web Tools IP addressing scheme from a 164.x.x.x IP range to a 56.x.x.x IP range. As communicated several weeks ago via email, all Web Tools users should be using fully qualified Domain Names to avoid any Web Tools access interruption due to the IP changes. USPS will be restricting access to the old IP addresses over the next several days with a permanent IP address retirement on Monday, September 15th,, 2003 To avoid a Web Tools service interruption, your company or your ISP should refresh its DNS to reflect the new 56.x.x.x IP range. If you have any questions, please contact the USPS Internet Customer Care Center at [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> . Sincerely, The USPS Web Tools Team Any info on what needs to be changed in osc to fix this?
designsimply Posted September 11, 2003 Posted September 11, 2003 Check this out http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=57635 Let us know if it works. I pinged the production server like the post suggests, and I still get a 164.x.x.x address. Also, the test server doesn't even seem to get a response. I wonder if the test server is down or something.
Guest Posted September 11, 2003 Posted September 11, 2003 Thanks it worked. Funny thing now is how i couldnt find that in the first place after studying that usps.php file for 2 or 3 times.
USPS_ICCC Posted September 11, 2003 Posted September 11, 2003 To All OS Commerce members, I wanted to let you know that the fix is really nothing that you need to do in your coding of your shopping cart. The issue is based on your webhost's DNS entries. If they still point to the 164.x.x.x addresses, your website will not be hitting the correct servers. We are working on having the DNS update be pushed through the internet more aggressivly, however at this time we do not have an ETA on when ISPs will refresh their DNS. Thank you, USPS ICCC
designsimply Posted September 12, 2003 Posted September 12, 2003 Anybody know how often ISPs and/or web hosts typically refresh their DNS tables?
meimei Posted October 1, 2003 Posted October 1, 2003 I don't think code edited is necessary. All I did is call USPS at 1-800-344-7779 (7:00AM to 11:00PM ET), have them switch my account from test server to production server. Then USPS shipping moduel works right the way! :D
