wizardsandwars Posted September 10, 2003 Posted September 10, 2003 Try the contribution "Easy Populate" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: As of Oct 2006, I'm not as active in this forum as I used to be, but I still work with osC quite a bit. If you have a question about any of my posts here, your best bet is to contact me though either Email or PM in my profile, and I'll be happy to help.
jpf Posted September 10, 2003 Posted September 10, 2003 Yes and Yes PhpMyAdmin can import CSV files or MySQL OBDC driver to push from access into your MySQL database - not suggested for Novice user. May be Easy Populate would be better. See: http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,500 Easy Populate makes it simple to populate your OSC store with products without using the web interface at all. Easy Populate lets you download all your products into a csv file, edit them in the spreadsheet of your choice, and the reupload them to update your products, changing prices, categories, quantities, etc. If new manufacturers, categories, or subcategories are found in the data, they are created for you on the fly. Note: There has been problems using this with LARGE numbers of new items that are imported. 1) Make in osC a SAMPLE item the way you want it setup. 2) Export it using Easy populate and download the file 3) Import it into Excel - keep this for a refernce for file layout. 4) Adjust your exisisting Excel spreadsheet to match 5) Save.... 6) Export to CVS a SMALL number of items - including the SAMPLE item from step#1! 7) Import and review items. 8) If okay - export/import 500 items at a time and check to see both the first and last item was imported correcly. 9) Repeat untill done Good luck!
