skyhawk Posted September 9, 2003 Posted September 9, 2003 Hi. First of all, although certainly not new to computers, I have to admit that I AM a newbie when it comes to websites, webmastering, and oscommerce. And -- you guessed it, I need a hand. I purchased a website, it's all transferred, etc. Well, first thing to do is change my password, right? -- big mistake!! When I changed the password, (yes, I know what it was) now the site won't run at all, and I can't even access the admin section with either the new or old password. Is there anyone that would give a new guy some help, or at least a suggestion on what to do to recover my site? I need to have the site open!! Thanks, Bob Brown
isweetpapi Posted September 10, 2003 Posted September 10, 2003 I suggest you contact your host and have them reset your password.
skyhawk Posted September 10, 2003 Author Posted September 10, 2003 ok, thanks, I had asked them, and their initial answer was that they would not be able to help me. Would re-uploading the site files help? (If you want to see how it acts, go to www.cigdeal.com Thanks, Bob
paulmuddib Posted September 10, 2003 Posted September 10, 2003 if you have a .htaccess.php file, delete it and you will be able to get in the admin page without password.
Daemonj Posted September 10, 2003 Posted September 10, 2003 When you attempt to access your site and are asked for your password (I assume this is for your admin section), do you receive an authentication box or is it a page that looks to be part of osCommerce? If it is a box, then you should be able to edit the .htaccess file in your admin folder to remove the 4 auth lines. If it is a page, then you will need to determine which login contribution was used by the original owner. If you have a copy of the database and selected the drop tables option at the time the backup was made, reimport that file and you should be able to get in with your old password again. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence." - A. Einstein
