Commenting out & thumbnails in product page

Hello everyone - I've been working with the OSCommerce cart for a few months now and I love it, but I'm having problems with a couple of things:

 

(1) On this advanced search page I'm trying to comment out the "Manufacturers" and "Search Help" fields but I can't quite get them to comment out. I know I'm in the right file but I'm not sure where to put the /*text to be commented out */ when it comes to forms like this one written in php.

(2) I've built this shopping cart for a client but she wants image thumbnails on each category page instead of just the product name as text - here is an example of one of her product pages:

Does anyone know how I would go about getting those thumbnails on this page?
