Configuration chmod and OSX last hope

I already posted a question about installation and getting stuck on step 7 only to get a very helpful 'get a PC'.

I'm told I'm missing configuration files or permissions are not set.

I've changed permissions for configure.php in /catalog/includes/ to 706, 707, 777 and 755 (these are the numbers that have come up in my searches) and it makes no difference.

I've no idea what files may be missing or any indication of how I can get past this. I'm just about ready to abandon the whole thing. :(

This is the error message in its entirety:

The configuration files do not exist, or permission levels are not set.

Please perform the following actions:

* cd /Users/chrisprice/Sites/catalog/includes/

* touch configure.php

* chmod 706 configure.php

* cd /Users/chrisprice/Sites/catalog/admin/includes/

* touch configure.php

* chmod 706 configure.php

Could I have the catalog folder in the wrong place?

The install instructions suggest placing it in /usr/local/apache/htdocs/ but I have no apache directory there.

Thanks for the reply :roll:

There is 2 configure.php that you have to chmod to 777 before installation:

catalog/includes/configure.php and admin/includes/configure.php

Thank you ever so much for your help.

I changed the chmod on both files and I'm now in business.

Where could I have got that information if I'd known where to look?

Thanks again :P
