Admin login without username/password request?

Hello everybody,

 

I recently installed this nice but powerful product. I'm surfing through the hundreds of useful options found in the Administration interface, but I still have one big question: the system doesn't ask me for the username/password data when I try to enter to the Admin interface through the web browser (www.domain.com/catalog/admin/). Is this normal? The only way to hide the Administration interface is to change the name of the directory? Or should I employ a .htacces file?

It's not protected by default (a silly mistake by the developers IMHO). Use .htaccess.
