OGI Posted September 5, 2003 Posted September 5, 2003 Hello All, Does anyone know if a fix exists for preview image display in osC? The preview images are always distorted in the catalog until the user click on "Click to Enlarge" hyperlink. The image control setting in the Admin Mod is a one shoe fits all. Unfortunately it does not work for all images. I believe it will make sense to have the preview images display to scale but the user will have control on how big or small they want them to display from the Admin Mod. If anyone is aware of any solution to fix this problem sharing will be highly appreciated. Thanks! Curious George Curiousity kills the cat but not George ;-).
macki Posted September 5, 2003 Posted September 5, 2003 try setting one of the dimensions to 0 and check "calculate image size" or something like this Piotr
Guest Posted September 5, 2003 Posted September 5, 2003 Someone (modom?) said that you should delete the height (or width, but not both) rather than use a 0 (i.e. you want the dimension to just be blank). Hth, Matt
jrwrestling Posted September 7, 2003 Posted September 7, 2003 if you select 0 and choose a specific height, it will make the table a perfect rectangle. Both deleting and 0 work for this.
OGI Posted September 7, 2003 Author Posted September 7, 2003 All, I appreciate your insights. All my images are now displaying to scale. The only problem I have at this point is that some of the big images are taking up the entire screen. An example can be seen at: http://cheapgadget.com/product_info.php?ma...oducts_id=10916 Can you please advise on how I can display Small Image Width and Height to scale without any distortion? If there is any contribution that can do the job, the information will be highly appreciated. Thanks! Curious George Curiousity kills the cat but not George ;-).
jpf Posted September 7, 2003 Posted September 7, 2003 Resample that Pic off line in photoshop or what ever you use into a smaller Pic then re-upload it. Resampleing severside - evertime some one views the product would be too much. There are contribs that allow a small thumb nail and a "full screen" or muliple sizes....
OGI Posted September 10, 2003 Author Posted September 10, 2003 All, My problem has now been solved. I appreciate all your input and insights. Thanks! Curious George :D Curiousity kills the cat but not George ;-).
cln Posted September 11, 2003 Posted September 11, 2003 Can you tell me what you did to fix your image problem. All of my large images are different sizes so the small images are being distorted. 1. If I resize them all in photoshop what should I resize them to? 2. In the admin what do I set the small image width and height to? 3. Do I set "Calculate image size" to true or false? Please let me know the best way to go about fixing my images. Thanks, Charity

Thanks, Charity Charity, 1. You may resize the images to any size you want in Photoshop depending on how much product detail you want to show your customers. 2. In the admin (mine), I set the Small Images Width to 50 and let the Smal Images Height Blank 3. Calculate image size should be set to True. Steps 2 and 3 will fix your image distortion problem. The problem is that yous images will display to scale but in whatever size you specified in item 1 above. In order to fix this problem, you will need either one of this contributions: http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,1484 http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,350 Good luck! Curious George P.S. Please remember to back-up the appropriate file before you install any mod. It gives you an opportunity for redemption :D . Curiousity kills the cat but not George ;-).
