Browser auto detection for header image

Hi,

I have a small problem.

I have a header image I want to implement in the store. The header image will span the whole width of the store.

My problem

As many people use different resolutions I cannot just make one size of the header image for everyone. E.G a 800px width image will look odd for a 1280 x 780 res customer, or a 1280 px width image will be too big for a 800x600 res customer.

Is there such a way, a script, that can detect what size browser the customer is using and load a image depending on their browser size?
