Changing background color to image

Recommended Posts

Someone please tell me what's wrong with this edit I made in .css, why it isn't working and HOW to fix it! Thanks in advance! :)

BODY {

background-image: url(http://www.jwsfun.com/public_html/shop/images/banner 8.jpg);

color: #000000;

margin: 0px;

P.S. I know there's a space after the word "banner": It's the way the file name is written, so I don't think this is a problem UNLESS .css files are that darn finicky!

I read this post with interest but the advice did not work for me.

I am trying to have a background over a colour. I tested it using Dreamweaver so I know I have the right effect. I loaded the image to where the URL says but I get the colour but no image. Take away the colour and still no image. Is it my poor HTML?

BODY {

background-image: url(/images/sfbackground.gif)repeat fixed left top;

background: #ECECFF;

color: #E18000;

margin: 0px;

}

for me I had to use it like this

BODY {

background-image: url('http://www.your url.com/catalog/images/name of your.gif');

background-repeat: repeat;

margin: 0px;

*

}

It worked for me like this. It gives you a back ground picture. I found it does not like jpg so try saving you pic as a gif. Can't promise it will work for you so back up your files! :) And good luck
