radders Posted September 3, 2003 Posted September 3, 2003 If the forum Tips and Tricks' were to be renamed 'Your Tips and Tricks' there might be fewer requests for help posted there.
Guest Posted September 3, 2003 Posted September 3, 2003 Or more. People might say, "Oh, this is where I can get tips and tricks just for me." "Post your Tips & Tricks here for others to use" as the title might help marginally. Cheers, Matt
radders Posted September 4, 2003 Author Posted September 4, 2003 A bit long but it would work for me, YMMV.
Guest Posted September 4, 2003 Posted September 4, 2003 I dont know but it clearly says on the sticky note please read before posting and if you do it says insideAbout this forum 1. This is not a support forum. Do not ask questions here. 2. Do not ask for tips or tricks to be posted. 3. Feel free to politely send those who help you in other forums a Private Message suggesting that they post their tip or trick here. Submitting Tips and Tricks 1. Make sure your tip or trick works! 2. Provide detailed information about what your tip or trick does, and how it works. 3. Make sure your tip or trick makes sense and is easy to read. Preview it before posting it. 4. Use BBCode where necessary to increase the readability of your post. The_Bear
Guest Posted September 5, 2003 Posted September 5, 2003 Yes, but that assumes that people actually read the topics. Some people click on Tips & Tricks and hit post as soon as they see the button, without reading any of the topic headings. Therefore, they don't see the "please read before posting." In general though, I would agree that there isn't much more that can be done. I suspect that my suggestion would have marginal utility at best and that the effect of the original suggestion would be indeterminate (might help or hurt). Cheers, Matt
