Image for background

Is it possible to use a gif instead of a color for the background? I think I know where to change it, I just don't know the correct code to use.

Would it be something like: catalog/images/1brn20.gif ?

And would the changes just be made in the Stylesheet?

Thanks for the help.

you need to find your stylesheet which should be in admin/catalog/stylesheet.css

and edit the following

BODY {

background: #ffffff;

to

BODY {

background: url(images/NAME OF IMAGE);

and also find this

TR.header {

background: #ffffff;

TR.header {

background: url(images/NAME OF IMAGE);

and that should change the bit behind your banner, veiw account, cart and checkout buttons at the top and also the background for all pages.

Hope this helps, please let me know if it does.

  • 2 weeks later...

I'm having a problem with my stylesheet.css. I don't care what changes I make to it, there is never any change in my index.php. I've been trying to change the

default grey navigation bar on the top and the bar on the bottom of the page.

This is an example of some of the things I've been trying:

TD.headerNavigation {

background-image: url(images/bar.gif);

}

I don't think my site is using the stylesheet.css. I've even renamed the stylesheet and my site still work just the same.

Is there something that I have to do in order to use the stylesheet?

Thanks in advance.

I got my answer about using an image for a background, this is how it is coded:

BODY {
 background: url("images/tan8.gif");
 color: #000000;
 margin: 0px;

Jayman, you are in the wrong part of the stylesheet to change those bars, this is where you want to change the color:

TR.footer {
 background: #8B0000;
}

TD.headerNavigation {
 font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif;
 font-size: 14px;
 background: #8B0000;------->this is the bar color
 color: #FFF5EE;  ------>this is the text color
 font-weight : bold;
}
