When I click on a category and get the resulting list, the header reads "Product Name+" instead of simply "Product Name."

I check catalog/includes/languages/english/index.php and it reads as follows:

define('TABLE_HEADING_PRODUCTS', 'Product Name');

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Bob

I suppose the long answer is search for use of the Constant 'TABLE_HEADING_PRODUCTS' and find where it concantated with the +

Well I was just about to give you a bit of a direction but thought I'd better get a view of what you're talking about.

I can hardly belive it, I have the same thing and have never noticed it; the mind boggles. I don't know if was always there or not?

Anyway you'll get some help now, as I won't rest till i've found the solution :wink:

Wow, who's this Matt guy who is following me around and helping me with all my problems. Any minute now you're going to appear in front of me with a glowing aura a la "Touched By An Angel" and say something like, "I've been sent by God to help you with your osCommerce setup."

Maybe it's time to reconsider my atheistic worldview?! :wink:

Thanks again,

Bob

Ok so far I understand that the sign can be plus or minus depending on whether the column is sorted ascending or descending, and that the sign appears after the heading of the column last used for sorting. The default being the Products column sorted ascending.

The next question will be to change the + and - to little triangles which are a more common mark in windows etc.

Thanks iiinetworks

Ok I have little triangles tom indicate the state of sort

"

<img src="includes/languages/english/images/buttons/button_ascending.gif" height="10" width="16" align="absmiddle" border="0">'

"

in functions/general.php

line 866

"if ($sortby) {

$sort_prefix = '<a href="' . tep_href_link(basename($PHP_SELF), tep_get_all_get_params(array('page', 'info', 'sort')) . 'page=1&sort=' . $colnum . ($sortby == $colnum . 'a' ? 'd' : 'a')) . '" title="' . tep_output_string(TEXT_SORT_PRODUCTS . ($sortby == $colnum . 'd' || substr($sortby, 0, 1) != $colnum ? TEXT_ASCENDINGLY : TEXT_DESCENDINGLY) . TEXT_BY . $heading) . '" class="productListing-heading">' ;

$sort_suffix = (substr($sortby, 0, 1) == $colnum ? (substr($sortby, 1, 1) == 'a' ? '<img src="includes/languages/english/images/buttons/button_ascending.gif" height="10" width="16" align="absmiddle" border="0">' : '<img src="includes/languages/english/images/buttons/button_descending.gif" height="10" width="16" align="absmiddle" border="0">') : '') . '</a>';

}

I can't wait to give the triangles a try! The sort feature is great, but if we didn't understand the purpose of the mysterious +, how can we expect shoppers to figure it out.

I'm looking forward to trying the triangles.

Hi Matt

I don;t think this is up to a contribution level so I've posted it under Tips and Tricks.

if I knew how to add attcahments to these posts I'd send the little gif I made :wink:

The GIFs would be the reason to upload as a contribution. There is no way to attach files the way this board is setup. The only thing you could do is post them somewhere permanently (for example, if you are using them in a live osCommerce store, you could post the URLs for them there.

I was going to suggest that you post it in Tips & Tricks, but then I realized that there wouldn't be a good way to upload the images that way.

Hth,

Matt

Ok

I've change line 866 in includes/function/general.php

and replaced the '+' with

"

'<img src="images/default/ascending.gif" height="10" width="16" align="absmiddle" border="0">'

and replaced the '-' with

"

'<img src="images/default/descending.gif" height="10" width="16" align="absmiddle" border="0">'

and put the gifs in images/default, as you can imagine.

The size of the gifs gives a bit of room left and right and small enough height not to spread the height of the cell!

the gifs can be downloaded from

http://www.rogerlovejoy.co.uk/ecokidz/imag...t/ascending.gif and

http://www.rogerlovejoy.co.uk/ecokidz/imag.../descending.gif

You can see them working @ http://www.rogerlovejoy.co.uk/ecokidz

I'll try and understnd the contributions things alter as I'm a bit stretches and stressed just now.

Thanks
