Implementing a new search method

Hey, here's the deal:

I have an opportunity to develop a car parts shop. They only want to sell direct fit converters. That would mean a database of about 900-1000 parts, nothing too large.

However, with a car parts site, a product search is a bit more advanced than one simple textbox. I would like to set it up so that the visitor enters their vehicle's year, then make, then model, etc..

My question is, how hard would it be to implement this type of search capability into oscommerce and what would this type of modification entail?

Thanks for reading, and also for any help you give,

Alan Dickinson

Its possible, but complicated. You'll probably need to add a searchable field for each piece of info you need a customer to enter. If you search for *add fields* you should find a few threads about this. However you may find that its easier to hire someone to make the change for you. It all depends on how at home you feel with changing the search functions.
