Creating php pages in deeper folders - /catalog/abc/def.php

What specifically do I need to do in order to get the php files to work in a directory other than /catalog/ php?

For example, I have a section of over 300 pages of PDF image files that I would like to display about 8 in each directory.

For cleanliness, it would be nice to move some html files into a separate folder:

/catalog/pdf1/page1.php

/catalog/pdf1/page2.php

/catalog/pdf1/page3.php ... etc.

/catalog/pdf4/page1.php ... etc.

If I grab shipping.php out of /catalog/ and move it there, it doesn't work. What's the easiest way to make it work? Do I need to also change application_top.php and config.php?

Thanks!!
