Adding Links to Header

Paycheck

Recommended Posts

I have read through the forums and even found one that addressed my situation but when I tried it it did nothing. I am running ms1 version 2.2 and would like to add a few links to my forums, reviews, chat so on to the header. I have added the following to my english.php file

// header text in includes/header.php

define('HEADER_TITLE_CREATE_ACCOUNT', 'Create an Account');

define('HEADER_TITLE_MY_ACCOUNT', 'My Account');

define('HEADER_TITLE_CART_CONTENTS', 'Cart Contents');

define('HEADER_TITLE_CHECKOUT', 'Checkout');

define('HEADER_TITLE_TOP', 'Home');

define('HEADER_TITLE_CATALOG', 'Catalog');

define('HEADER_TITLE_FORUMS', 'Forums');

define('HEADER_TITLE_LOGOFF', 'Log Off');

define('HEADER_TITLE_LOGIN', 'Log In');

I am unable to code in the tep_href_link to these and also unable to get the forums link to show up in the header links. All else is standard

Always remember, we need patience, guidance and most of all understanding.

These are the relevant lines from header.php:

  <tr class="headerNavigation">

   <td class="headerNavigation">  <?php echo $breadcrumb->trail(' » '); ?></td>

   <td align="right" class="headerNavigation"><?php if (tep_session_is_registered('customer_id')) { ?><a href="<?php echo tep_href_link(FILENAME_LOGOFF, '', 'SSL'); ?>" class="headerNavigation"><?php echo HEADER_TITLE_LOGOFF; ?></a>  |  <?php } ?><a href="<?php echo tep_href_link(FILENAME_ACCOUNT, '', 'SSL'); ?>" class="headerNavigation"><?php echo HEADER_TITLE_MY_ACCOUNT; ?></a>  |  <a href="<?php echo tep_href_link(FILENAME_SHOPPING_CART); ?>" class="headerNavigation"><?php echo HEADER_TITLE_CART_CONTENTS; ?></a>  |  <a href="<?php echo tep_href_link(FILENAME_CHECKOUT_SHIPPING, '', 'SSL'); ?>" class="headerNavigation"><?php echo HEADER_TITLE_CHECKOUT; ?></a>   </td>

 </tr>

How have you changed these? Where do you want to put your links. To what URLs?

Well I am glad to see that I was working in the right spot. I did try to add lines to this but backed out my work when I saw it was not taking. I have on my site http://www.mrculinary.com/catalog/default.php links at the top just below the header image in the blue line My account, Cart Contents, Checkout.

I would like to add Forums, News, Recipes, Live chat to the end of them, ie. at the end of checkout on the right. Linking to those relative paths

Forums = http://www.mrculinary.com/nuke/modules.php?name=Forums

Reviews = http://www.mrculinary.com/nuke/modules.php?name=Reviews

Live Chat = http://www.mrculinary.com/nuke/modules.php?name=SPChat

Links = http://www.mrculinary.com/nuke/modules.php?name=Web_Links

I could not find the tep_href_link to change or add these.

Thanks for your help

Replace ?></a>   </td> in the third line above with

?></a>  |

<a href="nuke/modules.php?name=Forums">Forums</a>  |

<a href="nuke/modules.php?name=Reviews">Reviews</a>  |

<a href="nuke/modules.php?name=SPChat">Live Chat</a>  |

<a href="nuke/modules.php?name=Web_Links">Links</a>   </td>

The new lines are unnecessary. I just think they make it easier to read in the post. Note: it's possible that you will have to specify http://www.mrculinary.com/ in the hrefs as well. I left it out, because SSL will work better with relative URLs.

Matt
