The e-commerce.

(Another) SID Question!

Craig Atkins

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I need a bit of clarification about SID's in osCommerce.

When I have Force Cookie Use set to false (which is what I would like), I always get SID's in the address bar.

Does osCommerce not try to set a cookie, and if it cannot do this THEN it puts the SID in the address bar? (and if force cookies is true it displays a friendly error)

Either I'm doing something wrong, or my test installation is never ever setting any cookies...

Help would be appreciated! :-D

Many thanks,

Currently working on a test site on my personal machine, so my domain is localhost.

Due to issues I've heard about I've already tried changing the settings to be (my IP) without any better success.

A snippet of my include file:

define('HTTP_SERVER', ''); // eg, http://localhost - should not be empty for productive servers

define('HTTP_CATALOG_SERVER', '');

I have the same question as Craig. Is MS2 supposed to set a cookie and if it cannot then it uses SID?

My configuration file:

  define('HTTP_SERVER', 'https://shop.solardirect.com');

 define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://shop.solardirect.com');

 define('ENABLE_SSL', true);

 define('HTTP_COOKIE_DOMAIN', 'http://shop.solardirect.com');

 define('HTTPS_COOKIE_DOMAIN', 'https://shop.solardirect.com');

 define('HTTP_COOKIE_PATH', '/');

 define('HTTPS_COOKIE_PATH', '/');

 define('DIR_WS_HTTP_CATALOG', '/');

 define('DIR_WS_HTTPS_CATALOG', '/');

The only thins I can see that may be wrong is that my 'HTTP_COOKIE_DOMAIN' is set to http: instead of https: Can that make a diiference since I am running my whole store on SSL?

I also have many similar questions about admin>config>sessions settings. See http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=54814&highlight=sessions%2A+spiders ://http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/viewto...ons%2A+spiders ://http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/viewto...ons%2A+spiders Help Please.

Boom... Big butta boom.
