Hiya

I have uploaded all the catalog system in the way in which its supposed to. I have my mysql database sitting running and my hosting does say I have PHP support. However when I go to the install/index.php page a dialog box pops up and asks to download install/index.php it dosent actually go to the page?

Not sure about this, but I can't acces my admin if I put the file name afer the folder i.e I must put www.rogerlovejoy.co.uk/admin although it's password protected.

If i put index.php after I get an error message etc.

Have you passworded the directory?

thanks for your post.

I havent put any passwords on the page. Im trying to install the osscomerce system on the web server its just not allowing me to access the install/index.php so I can configure the database. Every time i go to that page it just asks if i want to download the index.php instead of running it

I suspect you have chmod issues - see this post

Cant seem to install this (Newbie question)

Also make sure the homepage for your webspace is pointing at your root directory and not the catalog directory as it really messes up the thing!!

I suspect then that your webspace isn't running php or php isn't installed properly. Your browser should run .php files if the websever is running php. If your browser is trying to download a php file then php isn't running - or your browser is f***ed! I suspect the former - check with your hosting company.

A.)Directory Listing Denied

This Virtual Directory does not allow contents to be listed.

This is OK. It just means you are not allowed to view the contents.

To access any file you must type out the complete filename.

like:

http://console-direct.co.uk/catalog/instal...all/install.php

However right now it says 'install.php' does not exist in the folder

/install/

ALSO you need to make sure that install.php has the 'EXECUTE'

permissions. You need to set it to 755 to run it in your browser.

B.) If your web browser is downloading any file with the extension .php

then your webserver. (looks like your running. Apache/1.3.27 on Linux)

does not know what to do with it. It may be setup for an older version of

PHP, and needs an extension such as .phtml or .php3.

Ask your hosting company about PHP.

http://console-direct.co.uk/catalog/install/install.php

if i try the link above it just trys to download install.php instead of runing it

I just went to NetCraft.com and compared

console-direct.co.uk

with my servers.

I concluded you don't have PHP modules integrated into your Apache.

If your running PHP then I guess your running PHP as a CGI ?

This could be slow and need some changes to your path.

Go to Netcraft and try out what I did you will have something to

talk about when you talk to your hosting company.
