What does "Comment Out" mean?

I just started delving into the osCommerce system. It's a whole new world for me. My previous shopping cart was entirely different.

I have never before run across the phrase to "comment out" something.

What does that mean? :oops:

Will have more questions later...but will start with this one.

Thanks for the help!

Comment out means to put two slashes in front of a line like this

//this is commented out

If it is a longer section - then you would comment it out differently

/*this is how you comment out a section or more than a line*/

To comment out html you would do this

<!--<td>commented out</td>-->

Thank You for clearing up what "comment out" means.

I didn't have a clue...now I do!

So much to learn...but I am sure it will all fall into place, through trial and error and with the guidance that this forum offers.

It is greatly appreciated!

Commenting out refers not just to OSC, but to ANY programming language. You are now one step down the line towards programming in any language in the world that computers have to offer. Doesn't that make you feel clever?

Yes...I do feel a shift in the cosmos. Perhaps now, Quantum Physics would be a field I might do well in! :wink:

In fact, I just figured out how to add a "quote" due to the fact that you added one in your reply...I'm on a roll...!

Thanks!
