tog_benson Posted August 2, 2003 Posted August 2, 2003 I have just successfully installed oscommerce on a redHat 7 box. When I go to some of the pages in IE, I get a "Page cannot be displayed" error. When I hit refresh, the page comes up fine (same address). I have searched the forums, but I can't find any info. Thanks, Tog Benson
Guest Posted August 19, 2003 Posted August 19, 2003 I have a friend who cannot see ANY of my oscommerce sites. Others all over the country see them just fine. They all run various versions of IE (like IE5 and 6). His error is "page cannot be displayed". I wonder why he cannot see these pages? He closes his browser every night and turns off his computer.
Jeepix Posted August 20, 2003 Posted August 20, 2003 If there is any kind of security involved it could be a misconfiguration of I.E. I had this problem when my brother tried to access the admin section. Go to Tools, Internet Options, Security tab, make sure Internet is chosen, click Custom Level button, scroll to the very bottom under User Authentication and select Automatic Logon only in Intranet Zone. Sometimes, I guess, I.E. gets messed up and gets 'stuck' in Anonymous Logon mode. Anyway, this can cause your problems.
Guest Posted August 20, 2003 Posted August 20, 2003 Actually, it isnt my problem. Its the problem of 1'000's of my clients customers across the world who run IE. I just want to make sure there's nothing I havent left undone in osc that could alleviate the symptoms. How the _bleep_ do you tell millions of IE users that their browser is all bleeped up and its microsoft's fault? Can you hear them say "But microsoft is soooooooo easy to use?" I've heard this so many times I am nauseous. If it were true then millions of users wouldnt be having their XP boxes rebooting every 60 seconds for the last week. That sure doesnt sound "easy" to me. Does osc need a module that automagically explains to customers about the foibles of their browsers? (I'm joking, I'm joking) ;)
