jharsh Posted August 2, 2003 Posted August 2, 2003 I am new to php/mysql and I thought that maybe using oscommerce and reading a book by kevin yank would help my out. My problem is the following: I use windows XP on my home computer, I use Golive for my web design. It came with a DB web server, Tomcat and Apache. I can run all the sample php sites that came with Golive, but when I put oscommerce in one of the test directories I get nothing but errors and windows closes down apache.exe. Anyway, My real question is: What is the best way to play around with oscommerce upload everything to a real server and just make changes, or try to make this virtual server work. Any help would be great, I am sure I am not the first with this problem so anyone welling to help me thru my learning curve would be a saint in my book. P.S I followed the step for installing at Wiki with no luck. Thanks,Jim
Guest Posted August 2, 2003 Posted August 2, 2003 There are a number of PHP/MySQL/Apache installers for MS Windows. Many here use EasyPHP. I use Apache2Triad, which I found by googling. Unless you have a very specific reason, I would not try to get OSC working with a database other than MySQL. There is a lot of work to be done for something that you only use for development purposes. Hth, Matt
