tcpope Posted August 1, 2003 Posted August 1, 2003 Hi fellow oscommerce members, After 6 months of modifications (only 5 months longer than I thought), a new oscommerce site is up and running. Please check out www.ShooShoosUSA.com. I created this site for my wife's business of importing, distributing, and web sales of ShooShoo brand shoes from South Africa. All positive and negative comments are welcome. I also want to thank the OSCommerce community for their outstanding support. Cheers, Tim
tcpope Posted August 1, 2003 Author Posted August 1, 2003 By the way, this is a live site, so please don't place any test orders. Otherwise, you'll be getting a pair a baby shoes in the mail. Thanks -- Tim
jaysin Posted August 1, 2003 Posted August 1, 2003 Nice site. but your buttons doesnot match the site. Login page showing tables looks, odd as tables are very out dated. You can use style sheet or color them.
Rumble Posted August 2, 2003 Posted August 2, 2003 Nice look and feel to the site, really compliments the products you sell. But now for the critique: 1) The home page is nice but there is bleeding in the colours eg the nes styles box, the pink text on the white has bled because you saved it as a jpeg, you should use gif's they're more stable, economical on space and can look better then jpegs. 2) Button need customising. 3) Top search bar needs aligning/levelling, aslo the magnifying glass can be blended into the blue or the white made transparent in gif format. 4) With a right-hand menu column you should really center the site instead of having it left aligned. 5) Your category images arent quite as big as the boxes so you can see lines of that pistachio background peeking through the sides where the image was meant to meet the table borders. 6) Shipping and handling - For the shipping method titles eg Standard US Mail, Priority US Mail etc - you've neglected to apply a css class to them so they appear at the browsers default size and font. I purposely put my browsers font on a funny looking one and a big size so I can spot it straight off, but to you it might liik perfect because your defaul font is set to arial 12 or something. 7) Same as point 6 for the Retail Stores page 8) Retail Stores - try using a popup for the mays so people dont navigate away from your store, yours will be there in the back ground so if the close the map window they dont need to cut your site off in the process. 9) Contact Us text same as point 6 10) Login, instead of having the three login options in a bordered table why not have them without the border but just subtle different colour backgrounds? 11) Colour co-ordinate the new account/checkout forms to the rest of your site. 12) Get rid of the standard osc title graphics on checkout you dont need them and they dont match your site. Hope this isnt too off putting! You have a lovely site like the images of your shoes nice and clear and concise. Could be polished off easily in a day as all of it was cosmetic, or even spaced over a week or two. :D Reddy to Rumble Thank you osCommerce and all who Contribute to her!
tcpope Posted August 4, 2003 Author Posted August 4, 2003 Thanks for the great feedback. Thanks Rumble for all the detail you provided. Will be making some of your recommended changes soon. I appreciate you spending the time to help us out. Cheers -- Tim
Guest Posted August 4, 2003 Posted August 4, 2003 Nice site but your button right box on the first page is broken. It shows the mouseover image but when the mouse isnt over it shows broken image link.
loxly Posted August 4, 2003 Posted August 4, 2003 I agree about the buttons, they need to be the same color as the blue in your pages, or white, the dark blue just doesn't work. There are a number of buttons set in contributions under images. To get rid of the stock graphics on the create account page and such, replace the table backgrounds.gif files wit transparent gifs (also a contrib for this) or eiliminate the call for the tablebackgroundxxx.gif files Otherwise, this is a nice example of what can be done with stock osc by moving columns around and making custom boxes, mostly with table colors I take it? It compliments your product well. [no external urls in signatures please, kthanks]
hemmi Posted August 6, 2003 Posted August 6, 2003 Looks great exept for: it is to much to the left. I would center it. rgds, hemmi
loxly Posted August 6, 2003 Posted August 6, 2003 hemmi, It is supposed to look like that :) It is one of the things I like about it, AND for the browers with less resolution than you have, it will be centered :) [no external urls in signatures please, kthanks]
