eakatank Posted August 1, 2003 Posted August 1, 2003 I'm working on installing the osCommerce site but i seem to be running into problems during the automatic install. I fill in my database info and click continue but the next page only half-way loads. Seems to be stopping on Database Inport but i don't know exactly. I have tried to manually import the database but i don't know how to bypass the install setup. Any help would be appreciated.
Daemonj Posted August 1, 2003 Posted August 1, 2003 Have you already created a database and a user to access that database? If not, then you need to do so. If you have done the above and are running a full install, do not select to import the Database on the first screen; only select Automatic Configuration. When the installation script has completed, open a PHPMyAdmin sql window, click the browse button, find the oscommerce.sql file (it is in the catalog/install folder but the file has to be on your local system), and say ok. Let me know if you run into any problems. "Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocre minds. eakatank Posted August 1, 2003 Author Posted August 1, 2003 I created a database and setup a user with all permissions, but the setup still stops. The top of the page reads new installation and on the next line osCommerce Configuration Any more suggestions on how i should approach this? Thanks
Daemonj Posted August 1, 2003 Posted August 1, 2003 This happens still even though you did not select to Import Catalog Database? Daemonj Posted August 3, 2003 Posted August 3, 2003 Edit your .htaccess (or create one if you do not have one) in your catalog folder with the following entry: php_flag display_errors on and tell me if any error messages are displayed. eakatank Posted August 3, 2003 Author Posted August 3, 2003 I didn't get any error messages. Have any other recommendations?? Thanks for all the help!
Daemonj Posted August 4, 2003 Posted August 4, 2003 Would you mind PM'ing me a link to your install script so that I can see what is happening?
