Guest Posted July 29, 2003 Posted July 29, 2003 Alright so this is the problem. For my products, I never got a chance to put in the weight. Its not a matter of me not being able to, it will just take a whole lot of time to do it. So I'm wondering if there is any other way I can confifugre the shipping process to work around the whole weight module. Can someone please help me?
Rumble Posted July 29, 2003 Posted July 29, 2003 Umm short answer is no! How can you expect the system to calculate shipping on weight if you havent given the weight of the product? Unless you have input the product dimensions and then apply a cross the board rate per cubic cm or something!? I would try and look for a contribution that allows you to update the weights in a whole category at once, i know this can be done with price but it shouldnt be so hard to convert it to change weight instead. Guest Posted July 30, 2003 Posted July 30, 2003 Actually...either flat rate or item rate (both are shipping modules) will allow you to ship without specifying a weight. Note: these are obviously not as accurate as a true weight based shipping method, since shippers base their prices on weight. However, if your products are similar to each other in weight or simply small enough that shipping the packing material costs more than the products will, then you can get by with these. Good luck, Matt
Rumble Posted July 30, 2003 Posted July 30, 2003 Yeah from what the problem stated it seems as though Helder was looking to base the shipping on weight without having to state the weight of each product. Unless I understood wrong. Reddy to Rumble Thank you osCommerce and all who Contribute to her!
alexs Posted July 30, 2003 Posted July 30, 2003 Sorry to jump in on your thread but which contribution allows you to update the prices all at once? Thanks~ :)
Rumble Posted July 30, 2003 Posted July 30, 2003 Dont worry you're not jumping in. If you go to the contributions section and then search 'Quick Price' you should get a couple relevant contributions come up ones called Quick Price Updates the other is Quick Price Updates v1.0 Reddy to Rumble Thank you osCommerce and all who Contribute to her!
alexs Posted August 1, 2003 Posted August 1, 2003 I haven't been able to find one that works well. Both I installed didn't display decimals or even update the prices at all. It said that it did successfully do so, so I can't find a problem. Any specific recommendations? Thanks -Alex
