Tie currencies and languages together

When customers from different countries visit my shop, they will choose the language initially (at least I hope so :? ). Therefore, I would like to tie the language to the currency, so that the choise of eg. "Swedish" makes SEK the chosen currency.

Of course the best solution would be to tie countries to currencies, but that knowledge will only be present after the customers has registered and consequently they might have a full basket at that time.

I couldn't find any contributions dealing with this, nor any postings in this forum.

Thanks.

Have you tried in the admin side

admin>configuration>my store>swich to language default currency?

That switch was turned on ("true"), but I didn't know that the code mentionned under languages referred to language code !?

When trying to test this out, my application went totally bonanza. I have tried to add languages and remove again, and during that experienced that the formatting on the website was lost as if the stylesheet didn't work. Now at this moment - after deleting and then adding the German language - I cannot open my website at all. Getting this err.message: Fatal error: Failed opening required 'includes/languages/.php' (include_path='') in /home/sites/site55/web/catalog/includes/application_top.php on line 285

I have not changed a lot, so maybe the easiest would be to re-install the whole application. But I'm unsecure about how to do this, also about whether my current database will be maintained afterwards.

Hi Bear,

Could you please elaborate this a litte:

Have you tried in the admin side

admin>configuration>my store>swich to language default currency?

I have turned this switch on, but where do you establish the link between the language and the currency ?

BTW, do you you if there is a module whereby oscommerce can determine the visitors origin, and based on that show the language of the country from where the client is located ?

Thanks for your help.

I need the same thing.

English language shall be connected to Euro, and Norwegian to NOK, and the customers shall not have the possobility to change this.

Any ideas? Can I remove the currency chooseing part, and hardcode the change of currency to the change of language?

I would also like to be able to put in different euro and Nok prices. On most products, its ok to use a standard exchange rate, but there are products I need to have full controll over this.

I need abit of help on how to proceed.:)

Thanks
