Guest Posted July 28, 2003 Posted July 28, 2003 Hey all, long time reader, first time poster ;) I run a small jewelry website ( http://www.heartbeadnyc.com ) for a friend of mine, and he wants to set up a special order system. His company does hand-made jewelry and, according to him, can 'cater to every taste and preference.' Right now, to keep business going, i'm inserting a modded Tell-a-friend box so that customers can email him on what they'd like to see. In the future, i'd want the following to happen: 1> The customer clicks on a product she likes, then clicks on special request... 2> Customer enters in preferences on color, design, etc 3>special request is sent to a database and cc'd to business owner 4> business owner makes a "prototype", takes pictures of it, uploads it to site 5> Customer logs in and sees that pictures and a price have been placed next to her special order, and can either give more feedback, or buy product at that point. Recorded as an order. 6>Product can be placed into regular catalog if more than one were made Now...after hearing all this "pie in the sky" theory, what do u think is the best way to implement it? Of course a table must be made...but as far as the ADMIN end and how to code it into the end-user interface...i really have no place to start... I have a limited PHP background (send and retrieve data)... Can anyone advise :?: Thanks so much! Ken Quote
Guest Posted July 29, 2003 Posted July 29, 2003 Create a global product with lots of options or text boxes so that customer can customize item. Then - add in the mods to restore customer order - this allows admin to modify and suctomer to repurchase. Or after get info and make demo - admin could add to top categories a product and send customer the url You will need to add a qute option so that item has 00 value and no payment or shipping is charged Quote
