mcbsolutions Posted July 27, 2003 Posted July 27, 2003 Hi I'm working with a fresh install of MS2. I only have the Option Type feature contribution installed presently, but will be adding more. I am attempting to load all my products and categories in MS Access. I use a mysql ODBC connection. I find it easier to put everything in Excel, and simply cut and paste right into Access. In some tables, you need to add a timestamp field to the table so Access will let you edit it. I have done that. This has all worked fine with MS1. I can populate the tables using Access or PHPmyadmin, it really does not matter, and the tables are populated correctly - but no products or categories are showing up in the store or in Admin. If I use admin, the products and categories appear in my store, but using Admin will be too time consuming. I've checked everything I can think of such as product status is active, products to categories table matches up, the numbering of everything is perfect as I am very particular about this. I've cleared all the products and categories tables, reset the auto increment back to 1 where needed, and tried again. Still the same problem. Any ideas? Thanks much! Steve
Daemonj Posted July 28, 2003 Posted July 28, 2003 Is the parent field of the categories table correctly set? That is the only thing that I can think of off the top of my head without seeing the database directly. Also note that the database did undergo some changes between MS1 and MS2. Therefore, what used to work with MS1 may no longer work with MS2. "Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocre minds. mcbsolutions Posted July 28, 2003 Author Posted July 28, 2003 Jim, Thanks for replying. I had the parent ID set to zero since I'm not using subcategories. When I added the product in Admin originally, I added it for Spanish as well, and since I'm not going to use multiple languages just yet (i have the languages info box commented out), I went into the categories description table and had an extra entry as follows: category id, language id 1, 1 1, 2 I removed the 1,2 entry and somehow that cleared up the problem. I didn't think that had anything to do with it, but that's what I think happened. Thanks for the help.
mcbsolutions Posted July 28, 2003 Author Posted July 28, 2003 How do I do what? You need to be a little more descriptive,
thuyvu Posted July 28, 2003 Posted July 28, 2003 I meant how do load all your products and categories in a database? Thank You
Daemonj Posted July 28, 2003 Posted July 28, 2003 The Easy Populate contribution is the best way to do it. "Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocre minds. thuyvu Posted July 29, 2003 Posted July 29, 2003 Thanks, it works like magic! what image mods are compatible with Easy Populate? :( 8) :?
Daemonj Posted July 29, 2003 Posted July 29, 2003 Thanks, it works like magic! what image mods are compatible with Easy Populate? :( 8) :?  I do not know that one. :? I imagine that so long as you match the fields in your products table with the fields in EP it should work. Either that or use EP to populate the db and then edit the records for their images. Sorry that I cannot be of more help. "Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocre minds.
